The valleys loved by the American writer become the protagonists of a new event on 2 wheels

With your Gravel or MTB have you ever looked at the reflections of the sun setting on the lagoon? Or heard the ducks playing on the riverbank? Smell the scent of salt that blends with the enveloping spring colors of the banks, perhaps in the shade of very tall trees?

Hemingway laughs is all this: an afternoon appointment that will see you pedaling along the Tagliamento River with its colours, its breathtaking views of the mountains with the snow-capped peaks still resting on the Friulian countryside, the Stella River, considered one of the most beautiful rivers in Europe with its resurgences and crystal clear waters and the lush vegetation that embraces it; finally the lagoon, where the horizon offers colors where the evening breeze will caress you along the way.

So whether you are on a Gravel, MTB, E-bike, you will be able to enjoy this landscape, even being able to pass through areas that are not normally accessible, following a path designed to enhance everything you encounter.

And you don’t just pedal! To conclude the experience, we will offer you an aperitif served with skill by the guys from IAL FVG, because after a nice ride even the palate must be satisfied!

You can register online from 6 to 22 May on this page.

Once 400 participants are reached, registration will be closed.

Route data

Route: route of approximately 55 km between roads, cycle paths and dirt roads, suitable for Gravel, MTB and E-Bike.

Track: will be sent via email to subscribers by Thursday 23 May 2024.

Registration costs

Registration cost: €10.00.
Registration includes:

• sending the trace;
• a mid-course refreshment point with drinks and fresh fruit;
• the final aperitif.

Who can participate

Anyone who registers by May 22nd in possession of a regular medical certificate (competitive or non-competitive) can participate.

Why Hemingway?

Do you know that Piazza Osoppo in Latisana was the protagonist of one of the first love stories gossiped about after the Second World War? Yep… paparazzi didn’t exist, the internet didn’t exist, influencers didn’t exist but the love story between the American writer and Adriana Ivancic, the noble girl who inspired Hemingway’s characters in his most famous novels, is well known. So we will begin our Ride overlooking the Tagliamento river, where “On the other side of the river among the trees” you can see the park of Villa Ivancic, home of the noblewoman and a splendid Venetian villa now almost in ruins, but which has not lost its charm.

But Hemingway wasn’t just love and women… he was much more, he was a true man of the 20th century!!

We will travel through the countryside between the Stella river and the Tagliamento, where the writer used to go on his hunting trips and spend entire days in the company of his friends: moving towards the countryside, before the lagoon, you will be able to see pristine views, still perfectly similar to how they appeared in the eyes of the Nobel Prize winner 80 years ago!

Among these glimpses there is also Bepi’s Scale, a fishing scale that is still working where Hemingway fished and spent moments of relaxation with Bepi, Daniele’s grandfather, the current owner, and where we can still find his dedications: we could therefore not accompany you to see this glimpse of the lagoon that who knows how many pages of books has inspired? Of course not… and we thought big, we will take you towards the evening hours, when the sun slowly caresses the lagoon and creates reflections and lights of unique colors and shadows!

So we are waiting for you in Latisana on Saturday 25th May to enjoy all these wonders that the Friulian territory gives us in just one day.
